During the first semester of the year
2023, Teacher Asmat has taken on a wonderfully

interesting class called “Choral Speaking &
                                                            ,
Story Telling” which is tagged ENG 222_SE10.
Although it only has one session per week in the
class D03, it seeks to have students gain the

ability to think creatively and independently
while solving problems, the courage to solve

& Story Telling while also developing their respect for others

W i t h that being said, I’m sure we all understand what storytelling is, but

some of us may not have heard of choral speaking before. Choral speaking is
actually an ensemble speaking by a group, often using various voice combinations

and contrasts to bring out the meaning or tonal beauty of a passage of
          poetry or prose.

T r u e to this definition, we would practice as a group, using various noises

and movements to make our performance more interesting. First, we would
start practicing by speaking tongue twisters to loosen our tongue. Then, we

would assign various parts of the script to different people in our class. So
far, we have practiced two scripts, one about a school day and the other

about our wonderful country. When we have practiced and are sufficiently
familiar with the script, we finally stand together as a group to perform the

          ensemble.

              A f t e r experiencing this class for a couple of months, I can confidently
say that even if some students aren’t very good at English, they can still

learn and participate well during class, which will improve their English over

time. Aside from that, it helps shy students gain the courage to perform in
front of other people. In conclusion, I strongly recommend any students who
want to improve their language and speaking skills, especially in front of an

audience, to sign up for this class.
